International chemical company. The Procurement department is mainly based in Amsterdam.
The procurement department is headed by the CPO. He has 2 direct reports: the VP Indirect procurement and the VP Raw materials procurement. The Raw Materials procurement team is based in Amsterdam and consists of 5 subdepartments: 3 for Raw materials procurement, 1 for Quality and 1 Analysts team.
The entire Amsterdam procurement team comprises more than 100 persons.
The vacancy is within the Inorganics & Foods Procurement team, led by the Head of this team.
The Inorganics & Foods team has 3 Global Sourcing managers and 3 Buyers.
You will come to work for 2 sites, one in Germany, the other in the Netherlands. Your objective is to secure supply chains, -quality and -vendor service levels and achieve cost reductions. You will focus on the procurement of inorganic materials.
You are in charge of the operational part of the procurement process: issue PO’s and call-offs; follow up on PO’s to ensure that items are shipped and delivered on time; address and solve issues that arise in this process; prepare and approve financial transactions within your mandate/authority level.
On top of these operational tasks, you will assist your Global sourcing manager in the supplier selection and contracting process, e.g. preparing and coordinating ‘requests for quotation’, providing relevant information and participating in supplier negotiations.
In addition you are expected to share your learnings with your colleagues and identify and initiate process improvements.
Your main stakeholders are the maintenance-, logistics- and production colleagues at the sites you procure for, plus your Global sourcing manager in Amsterdam and other procurement colleagues in Amsterdam as well.
The culture in the Amsterdam office can best be described as very international/intercultural, with a lot of freedom to manage your own tasks. English is the common language.
Some travel to the sites in Germany and the Netherlands is part of the job.
- At least 3 years of relevant operational procurement experience, preferably within chemicals procurement
- Strong Excel and SAP skills
- Strong communicator
- Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Result driven, autonomous
- Valid work permit for The Netherlands.
- Excellent command of English and Dutch. German is a strong pré.
A max. gross salary in the position of appr. € 55.000, starting salary depending on experience and knowledge, plus a discretionary bonus depending on your performance and company results. 26 Vacation days. For your pension you will be required to contribute appr. 3% of your salary.
