Company is a production organization in the maritime industry, main location in the Dordrecht region plus  sales and services centers across the world. The company employs some 2.000 persons.

 

Procurement

The purchasing director leads

  • 6 category managers, 5 for direct spend and 1 for indirect (NPR) spend. Some categories comprise a team of multiple people at operational and/or tactical level
  • project procurement team leads who are organized per Business Unit. Each project procurement team lead works per project with a team that is created out of a pool of tactical and operational purchasers plus expediters.

 

The position

You report into the Category manager Indirects. He is responsible for a spend of appr. € 100 mio. with a team of 3, the vacant Category buyer position plus 2 Operational buyers.

Your focus will be on IT and Facilities (both hard and soft facilities) and to a lesser degree on HR and MRO. The category plan for NPR is being updated at the moment by the Category manager.

Initially the role mainly comprises the contracting of suppliers, for real estate maintenance and IT applications, up to the sending of the PO. Contracts may have a value up to € 1 mio.  and you will mainly work at management level with your stakeholders. In later instances it is expected that you will also come to deal with the directors of IT, Facilities and HR.

The IT department requires you to move fast as they work according to a plan and planning. They understand that procurement needs to be part of the process but do not as yet see the strength of a full cooperation with procurement. The Facilities dept. on the other hand requires that you get involved in an early stage to prevent that you are just asked to approve the supplier’s quote.

It is important to ever improve the relationship with internal stakeholders to be able to increase your value for the business, e.g. by becoming involved at the earliest stages of new projects, by implementing supplier performance evaluation processes and/or by taking a role in the supplier sourcing phase. Nevertheless it is also important to challenge the business in situations where your role so requires.

Improvements that you need to implement are e.g. implementation of contract templates, of KPI’s, of supplier management, or the implementation of a high-level sourcing process (searching, selecting, auditing, qualifying, contracting new suppliers).

The ERP system used is IFS. You will become a key-user for this application.

Occasional travel will be required in the position.

 

Your profile

  • Bachelor degree
  • Procurement experience, possibly in a technical sector
  • IT literate
  • Strong communicator, analytic
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

 

Offer

Gross salary up to appr. € 70.000 per year, depending on experience and background, 40 vacation days, mobility budget, pension scheme with PME, employer pays 62% of premium.

Your office will be in the Dordrecht region.  Flexible working hours. Post-covid it is foreseen that you can work up to 2 days/week from home (in close consultation with your manager).
