Global marketleader in dredging, wind/renewables, maritime services, construction of ports, -containerterminals, -tankterminals (e.g. for LNG storage), etc. The company can assume many roles in these projects, such as project developer, contractor, technical services provider.
You will report directly into the manager Project procurement. Functionally you report into the Supply Chain manager of the Business Unit Seabed Intervention. Within this BU is a ‘Rock department’ with all required know how about rock, the quarries where rock is excavated, etc.
This is a new role. You will be the purchasing specialist in the field of rock. Responsible for the timely availability of all kinds of rocks and the logistics thereof in projects worldwide. This starts in the tendering phase and continues throughout the project.
Rock is needed in almost every project within the organization, port construction, cladding, protection of subseabed piping or -cables, construction of windturbine parcs at sea. Therefore each BU within the organization can be a stakeholder. Your spend is estimated to be tens of millions Euro’s.
You develop this position and show the value you can add in all tenders and projects where Rock is involved, by being an enabler to win tenders and deliver sustainable and profitable operations for rock.
It is important that you develop a global sourcing strategy for Rock that is fully supported by your main stakeholders: your managers, the Rock dept., BU management and tender- and project managers. The strategies you create answer the business needs in terms of environment, sustainability, legal- and risk management plus profitability.
Together with the Rock Department you need to source, introduce, qualify and develop new and existing suppliers, optimize vendor management and manage vendor contracts, with a focus on upcoming regions like Asian Pacific, America’s, Africa and Russia.
You are the linking pin between specialists within the Rock Department (technical rock specification), Subsea Rock Installation (projects and operations) and the Project Buyers (commercial), serving projects woldwide.
You provide operational and commercial support for tenders, contracts and framework agreements, organize supplier performance assessment, verify compliance with agreements and product requirements. Furthermore you benchmark prices for rock as well as for the transport thereof. You organize, coordinate and contract the shipment of rock, plan stockpile areas for storage and (trans)shipment of rock.
- A Civil engineering education, marine affinity is key
- At least 5 years work experience in a civil/infra organization.
- Procurement background and ability to act as category buyer, creating strategies and plans
- Willingness to travel (to remote locations) to perform quarry visits
- Strong communicator and teamplayer
- Good command of English.
Your salary will be max. € 90K gross/year depending on experience and know-how, you will get 31 vacation days (based on a full-time contract), possibly a company car (depending on the salary scale at start), a non-contributory pension scheme, collective schemes such as collective health insurance and travel allowance.
Due to Covid-19 “working from home unless” is the norm. This means you will work from home. As soon as the situation allows, your location will be in the Dordrecht region.
