Company is world market leader for truck mounted cargo handling solutions, e.g. for the mining industry and road transport, with a turnover of € 800 mio. and more than 3.500 employees worldwide. Production locations are present in Poland, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy and in the Netherlands.

The procurement spend is appr. 60% of turnover.

Global headquarters is located in the Leiden region.



You will report into the procurement director, who is part of the company’s board. The procurement director’s target is to structurally outperform the market by 2% as a result of professional procurement.

Because of it’s very strong market position, company is actively approaching the end-user market, (thereby circumventing it’s direct customers), to successfully introduce new solutions and add-ons to its present product range. These are based on IT and electronics (e.g. load sensors, data, cloud) and are solutions for motion control, cargo and driver management, preventive maintenance, autonomous driving. These new products are developed in cooperation with 2 consulting firms.

The spend in Electronics & IT is appr. € 25 mio. and growing rapidly, in conjunction with turnover growth. New Product Development takes place in the Netherlands, Italy, China and Brazil. Electronics and IT procurement is now scattered throughout the organisation, in Italy, China, Brazil. Alignment thereof is one of your prime focal areas.

You will participate in R&D projects for abovementioned initiatives and also be active with category management. The latter means developing the supply base, analysing your spend and suppliers, and have a clear view on the course of business growth. You will draft and obtain buy-in for your category plan. Once it is approved you will then manage the global implementation.

The KPI’s measuring your performance are: supply base performance, your input in NPD projects, your global savings and above all the quality of your category plan and the roll-out thereof.

The organisation has a flat structure and is understaffed, meaning that you are expected to be hands-on.

You will be based in the Leiden region. It is expected that you will travel some 25% of your time.


Your profile

  • Academic degree
  • Sound background in the procurement of IT and electronics
  • Analytic, strategic, conceptual
  • Hands-on
  • Good Presentation and communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent command of English.



A gross base salary up to € 110K, depending on experience and expertise; a bonus of 15-25%, depending on personal-, procurement’s and company performance; a company car; and 25+13 vacation days.
