Family owned company developing and manufacturing complex, tailormade, heavy equipment for offshore applications with a very strong global position in its niche. With some 2.000 employees it has facilities in China, Brazil, Singapore, Czechia and its headquarter in Rotterdam.

Each customer order is a project in itself.



The Supply chain manager has 5 direct reports and some 55 staff in total. His direct reports are the Logistics and warehouse manager, a Procurement manager Services and 3 Procurement managers, for:

  • Basematerials & Class
  • E&I
  • Mechanical & Hydraulics

An average procurement team consists of the procurement manager, a category manager, 2 or 3 buyers and an expediter.



The vacancy is either for the Mechanical & Hydraulics team or for the Basematerials & Class team. Basematerials & Class comprises the categories metals, outsourcing of machining thereof and certifying bodies like Lloyd’s. Your spend is around the € 20 mio.

You report into the Supply Chain manager, who reports into the CTO, and you manage a team of 5 – 8 persons.

Your main stakeholders are the CTO, the manager engineering, your colleague procurement managers and the project managers.

In the sector the focus historically was on engineering, making the product the customer needs. It gradually included shorter lead times and nowadays price and costs are just as important. This has created the need for a professional procurement organization.

Your main focus is, beside managing day to day activities, on improving the level of professionalism in the team. You lead by example.

You are expected to familiarize yourself with the company and your role in the first 3 months. After some 6 months you will need to have finished a procurement improvement plan for your team and after a year the first results thereof must have materialized.


Procurement needs to gets involved in the engineering process at the earliest possible stage to be able to steer the outcome in terms of design and spec, to create a procurement strategy, organize supplier selection in a professional manner, prevent excessive costs and delays, etc. It is therefore important that your team closely  works together with engineering.


The company works with ISAH as ERP system.

Considering the importance of your role and the strong involvement of the board and especially the CTO in procurement, you need to be able to communicate well at all levels.

The role will require that you travel max. 20% of your time.


Your profile

  • Technical or supply chain bachelor degree
  • Background in a production environment and preferably experience with hydraulics and mechanics
  • Management experience in Procurement or Supply chain
  • Strong communicator
  • Hands on
  • Very good command of English.



A salary is foreseen of appr. € 100.000 gross per year, depending on experience and know-how (in the position a maximum applies of € 110.000 gross/year); 29 holidays; a discretionary bonus; and you pay 3,6% contribution to your pension.
