Mechanical, Piping and Layout Engineer
For an internationally active design company in dredging and working ships we are looking for an Mechanical, Piping and Layout Engineer. You will work in a team to redesign existing dredging equipment for a change in role or to optimise performance. You will be responsible for the layout and connecting piping, cable and foundations.
The principal is a mayor designer and producer of working ships, including dredging equipment.
Making the mechanical layout and finding the most elegant solution. Re-use that which is already there to make conversions and optimisation of a ship as efficient as possible. Be smart about the cost and effect of your proposed layout and engineering choices. For the system performance you will work with specialists in their field but you make the overall layout. You will need to understand details like piping design, electric cable layout and winch application and discuss them in the design team to reach the best design decision for the customer.
The design team requires a mid-level engineer for the layout work, one with at least 3 years of experience and a bachelor or master education. More experience is of course welcome, as are good analytical and problem solving skills and experience in 3D CAD design work.
You are the engineer who ties the systems together with cables, ducts, piping and wiring. The high level of complexity requires a clear mind and someone dedicated to producing an elegant solution. You need to communicate with your fellow team members in clear English. This redesign job presents a real challenge once in a while and you should enjoy that.
