Important global player in the areas dredging, offshore, wind/renewables, port-, terminal-, tankstorage construction, etc. Company can assume many roles in these projects, like project developer, main- or sub contractor , technical services provider.
You report into the Director Tendering and functionally into the Manager Procurement & Supply Chain Dredging.
Your focus will primarily be on the tender phase and the sourcing & contract phase prior to start of the execution phase. The execution will be attended by a contract manager who is present on the project location.
The projects in which you will become involved usually have a value between € 100 mio. and € 300 mio., but can go up to € 2 billion. Projects are frequently won and executed in joint ventures or consortiums. These projects are construction of ports or oil/gas storage terminals, etc.
You will be involved in such projects as of the first moment, the tender phase. Your responsibility comprises some 70% of total projectvalue, what means that your input is essential to be able to win these tenders. You do have great influence on the organization of the tender itself and on the tender stratey. You then work together with the tendermanager, a calculator, a design leader and a tender engineer. It usually concerns integral tenders: steel, concrete, prefab, scaffolding, piling, combiwalls, bulding site logistics, hinterland development, etc. It is relatively new to the organization to tender and win projects where large parts are outsourced/subcontracted. The make or buy decision is therefore an important part of the tender teams responsibility.
In close cooperation with your tenderteam you start each project by developing a tender strategy, where upon you divide the project in packages for which you search and find possible subcontractors who you then invite to quote, keeping all the possible risks and pitfalls in account that are associated with the packages for which you send RfQ’s out. You then pre-qualify and audit subcontractors and suppliers and negotiate contracts or (sub)contracting agreements.
You find and create possibilities to increase synergy with other tenders or projects and do look for possibilities to include packages into framework agreements or preferred supplier agreements, you share market kowledge with internal stakeholders and report your results on the basis of targets/KPI’s.
In this position it is expected that you will travel 3 to 4 times per year for a week per trip.
