R&D manager QA

Our principal is a Dutch, young, rapidly growing and award winning developer and producer of high-tech production equipment serving industry. It has offices and production facilities South of Utrecht and part of production is outsourced to the US. The company has more than 300 employees. The R&D department has 115 persons, of which 15 in QA functions. The focus in R&D will be on developing new products, expanding the applications and improving the product perception of quality. The company is currently located just south of Utrecht, but will first half 2019 move to Utrecht.

As the company grows extremely fast, the infrastructure (processes, systems, etc.) is never in line with the organization’s needs. This requires people that can thrive in such an environment.


Your tasks

Development engineers are focussed on making something possible. The QA manager will focus on building on that achievement by ensuring that what can be done will be done right first time every time and that step will define the future of the company.

You are expected to allocate your team members on the projects that best match their competences, coach them towards personal and professional growth, be their sparring partner and be able to contribute to the direction of product development by developing and sharing your vision on technology.

Quality management in R&D can not wait till the end of the project to measure the quality thereof. It is required that the development process is organized in such a way that the end result will deliver the desired outcome. It is your task to organize the development process in such a way, in good cooperation with your colleagues, that the desired outcome will follow. As the end product is a combination of both soft- and hardware, you do have solid knowledge of both disciplines.

The QA manager needs to understand the core process, the surrounding mechatronics and interface with the user and needs to virtually place the products in a daily use environment to make a risk assessment and act on it with the development team. For this a technical background and experience with planned quality processes will serve you well.


Your profile

  • Ofcourse you have in-depth knowledge of quality and product assurance techniques in a mechatronics and software development environment
  • HBO+ or university grade education in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Process oriented mindset
  • Can thrive in chaos, self-starting
  • Good at stakeholder management
  • Teamplayer and positive attitude, focussed on finding solutions.
  • Complete command of English, command of Dutch is a strong advantage.

The salary for this position will be 80- to 110 K€ depending on your track record.
