The EMEA CPO is based in the UK. The EMEA procurement staff counts some 40 professionals and is divided in 4 regional teams: Central and Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, UK and Ireland and the team for NW Europe. The last region coves the Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The regional procurement team is fully responsible for all procurement for some 30 operating plants in the region. The main plant being in Rotterdam-Botlek, where the regional procurement team is largely based.
The regional procurement manager leads 3 category managers plus 4 buyers. Only one buyer is based outside R’dam-Botlek, namely in France. The team is relatively young and since recently in place.
The regional category manager position is located in R’dam-Botlek.
You will be responsible for a spend of appr. $ 21 mio. in the categories
- MRO – Scaffolding, Mechanical, E&I, Cranage, etc.
- Capex – mainly equipment such as Motors, Compressors, Cooling towers, etc.
Your main stakeholders are the plant managers, maintenance managers, project managers and project engineers.
Each year several stops/turn arounds take place in the region which you need to manage from the procurement side together with the responsible buyer(s).
You are expected to yearly develop, present and get approval for your 3-year category plan. And consequently for the implementation thereof.
The focus in your job will be on getting supplier contracts in place for France and Germany as these miss at the moment. Thereby reducing the workload for operational procurement. Contracts for the Benelux need to be evaluated for possibilities to reduce risk, achieve savings, avoid cost, improve supplier performance or to innovate.
Your KPI’s will be Savings, Stakeholder management, Safety and Innovation.
Further tasks will be the development of in depth knowledge of the supply market for your categories in the region, evaluating and managing supplier performance (a.o. by means of regular meetings with key suppliers), resolution of supplier performance- and invoice issues, etc.
Travel will be intense during the introduction period, thereafter it will not take more than 10% of your time.

- Experience as category buyer / tactical purchaser in a production environment
- Multitasking, energetic, structured, strong communicator.

Gross salary at start of € 60-65K, depending on experience, and including a 13th month. In the role you can grow to a salary of max. € 75K. Bonus of max. 2 monthly salaries, based on company results. 25+13 vacation days, pension scheme based on “middelloon” and a permanent contract.
