The company is active in the development, production and global distribution of high-tech (robotized) equipment. Within its niche it is world market leader.

Company’s headquarter is based in the Rotterdam/Den Haag area.

 

Purchasing department

The department consists of the Purchasing director, 6 Global category managers , 5 Global purchasers, a vacancy for a Cost engineer E and the cacancy for a Supplier development manager.

The maturity within purchasing is at a very high level. The Global category managers do functionally steer the activities of the Global purchasers.

 

Tasks

You report into the purchasing dirctor and will support and lead suppliers to a new level of supplier flexibility and on time delivery. You assess and develop suppliers to deliver best in class service levels, lead time, and quality performance. And you will work in a highly-matrixed organization of engineers (R&D), strategic purchasers, production management and supply chain management.

Specific job responsibilites are:

  • Supply Network (Re)Design
    1. Lead and Execute cross-functional, cross-facility projects to identify and implement supply network redesign. Your target is higher delivery frequency of smaller lots delivered just in time.
    2. Run Supply Chain workshops by engaging with product management, engineering, operations, category management, to assess and recommend make or buy strategies. Secure capacity in the supply chain to support growth.
    3. Provide analysis and metrics to drive improvements in delivery lot sizes and delivery frequency.
  • Supplier Development
    1. Conduct supplier audits and establish corrective action plans with suppliers.
    2. Provide support and guidance to suppliers in how to improve their end-to-end processes.
    3. Help train suppliers in Structured Problem Solving, Lean & Six Sigma skills and run Supplier Lean Deployment events on site
  • Supplier Performance Improvement
    1. Partner with category managers to optimize the supply network.
    2. Participate in the monthly Buyer Report meeting to resolve supplier delivery and quality issues

It is expected that this position will involve appr. 75% travel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain and/or operations
  • Black belt in 6Sigma/Lean
  • Sound experience managing operations, manufacturing engineering, QA or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
  • Successful past in change management in a manufacturing environment
  • Willing to travel around mostly European suppliers appr. 75% of time
  • Strong communicator in both Dutch and English.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Initial contract term : 12 months full-time

After this period there is a possibility to assume the position as a permanent role within the company.
