International chemical company. The Global Procurement department is based in Amsterdam, the European Head Quarter.
The company has multiple production sites within Europe, e.g. Spain, UK, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands.
The culture in the Amsterdam office can best be described as very international/intercultural, with a lot of freedom to manage your own tasks. English is the common language.
The procurement department is headed by the CPO. He has 2 direct reports: the VP Indirect procurement and the VP Raw materials procurement. The entire Amsterdam procurement team comprises more than 100 persons. The Indirects team is led by the head of indirect procurement and counts 6 persons: Category buyers and Buyers.
The vacancy reports into the ‘head of indirect procurement’ as well as into a ‘Category buyer’.
You will come to serve the European organization, focusing on the procurement of IT, facilities, travel and professional services, for the sites as well as the central organization in Amsterdam.
You are in charge of the operational part of the procurement process: issue PO’s and call-offs; follow up on PO’s to ensure that items are shipped and delivered on time; address and solve issues that arise in this process; prepare and approve financial transactions within your mandate/authority level. The company has 7 SAP applications running in the region plus a BaaN/Infor application.
On top of these operational tasks, you will assist the head of indirect procurement by leading sourcing projects, where you search, find, select and contract suppliers for e.g. cleaning or consultancy, e.g. preparing and coordinating ‘requests for quotation’, providing relevant information to stakeholders and leading supplier negotiations.
In addition you are expected that you share your learnings with your colleagues and identify and initiate process improvements.
Your main stakeholders are the local IT, HR and facilities departments, plus senior management for consultancy related tasks. You also work closely together with your procurement colleagues in Amsterdam.
Some travel to the sites in Europe may take place. At this moment everyone works from home, but when life has normalized it is expected that you will work at the office 50% of your time.

Your further profile is as follows:
You will start on a secondment (detachering) basis for a period of 6 months, which may be extended to one year. A contract directly with our principal is likely after the secondment (detachering) period.
Once you have a direct contract with our principal, the following conditions apply: a max. gross salary of appr. € 55.000 per year, depending on experience and knowledge, a discretionary bonus depending on your performance and company results, 26 vacation days. For your pension you will be required to contribute appr. 3% of your salary.
