Principal
Company develops and produces clever agricultural machinery, with an emphasis on innovation so as to increase the yield from the land with less use of water and less use of crop protection products. Since 2012 the company is part of a French, mainly family owned, mothercompany. It has its headquarter near Meppel and secondary facilities in the UK and Australia. It counts appr. 200 employees, with some 150 in the Dutch facility (75 in production and 75 in the office).
Production can best be described as being low volume/high mix and configure-to-order assembly. The company exports to 35 countries and expects to making a turnover well over € 100 mio. in 2022. It has a strong position within the group, as it meets its targets year upon year .

Position
You are expected to be the most senior in the team of strategic purchasers and be the procurement manager’s right hand. The procurement manager expects you to help him build the department in terms of processes, professionalism and results, including the commodity management approach.
The vacant position focuses on the agro/automotive commodity, e.g. hydraulics, the cabin, powertrain (e.g. engine). In total some 35% of total spend, i.e. € 25 mio.
You make a yearly strategic and action oriented plan for your categories, in close cooperation with your stakeholders in R&D, product management, process engineering, operations, quality , work preparation, logistics. Considering the importance of innovation, a strong relationship with R&D is of utmost importance.
It is expected that you take an active role in the initiation and execution of projects within the entire group to leverage spend, organize cost down activities, etc. This has only just begun so there is a great potential for improvement.
Ofcourse you will need to source, select, qualify, negotiate with-, contract and manage (relations with) suppliers. E.g. to yearly negotiate challenging and improved condtions with suppliers plus to accomodate the appr. 20% yearly growth in production by making sure that suppliers are able and willing to accomodate this growth.
Your focus will also be on issues like risk management, implementing a ‘supplier dashboard’ based on agreed KPI’s to measure and evaluate supplier performance, in order that your stakeholders trust that you are ‘in control’.
The ERP application used is Exact.
International travel will be limited (10%).
