Our principal is a young and successful company. Founded in 2004 it has now grown into an organization of some 170 employees (some 30 nationalities), with branch offices in many parts of the world. Its HQ is located in Utrecht province and the company develops and produces high-grade technology. Since recently, there is a strong focus on expansion of its markets beyond Europe and Turkey. North- and South-America, India and the Far East are becoming ever more important markets nowadays. The resulting growth in these regions makes that local supply chains need to be developed for production (because of transport costs, tariff walls, etc.) and for maintenance/service.
You will report into the global supply chain manager and be his right hand / deputy.
His responsibilities and team embrace Warehousing, Expediting, Planning and Procurement. The Procurement team consists of 2 buyers plus the Global Buyer Mechanical. Your category Mechanical, contains the main parts of the systems the company produces and mainly consists of bearings and castings. Your spend will be appr. € 30 mio.
Your main focus will be on the creation of entirely new supply chains in regions like India and China.
Setting up category- and vendor strategies, sourcing and qualifying suppliers, negotiating deals and making sure that suppliers live up to their promises.
An example. For the most important part of the high technology system the company produces, it now has four W-European suppliers. Because of the high transport costs of these subassemblies, it is foreseen that in one year time, none of these is contracted and that new suppliers will be located in varying and sometimes remote, locations in the world.
A second example is that for the purpose of cost reduction, for the second most important part of the end product (assembly), new suppliers are being sought.
As everything you do has a major impact on the end product, the cost thereof and therefore the viability of the company, you can expect strong involvement from senior management and many other internal stakeholders, such as operations, engineering, sales, etc.
Frequent travel (some 40% of your time) is foreseen.
The importance of this role for the company can not be overestimated. Therefore, strong stakeholder management skills are of utmost importance.

Initially 3 months contract. Extension is possible.
