Some 250 professionals work at Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands (Airbus DS NL), in Leiden at the frontiers of technology, in one of the most challenging industries: space. Airbus DS NL is a project organisation with a matrix structure. It focuses on the development (design, engineering) of mainly satellites, instruments and solar panels for space missions, plus the assembly, integration and testing thereof. Production of components and subassemblies is outsourced to suppliers. These systems enable space missions that make our daily life on earth possible, such as satellite navigation, -communication and climate research.
In the past space programs were initiated by the European Space Agency. Nowadays increasing competition and commercialisation of space missions result in a very dynamic market where costs and delivery times are under great pressure.
Airbus DSNL’s future success also depends on a lean, yet safe, production process, in close cooperation with suppliers.
You report into the QHSE manager at Airbus DSNL and function as the safety ambassador within the company. You are part of the Safety (Health and Environment) project team together with colleagues from production and facilities, that is led by the QHSE manager.
The role primarily focuses on Safety. Last year a plan was drafted and approved and the implementation of which has just started. This is the basis for your work. Your focus will be on
To be successful you are expected to take initiative, develop the company wide safety policy further, execute audits, lead near accident investigation, perform Risk Identifications and maintain the hazardous material database. You give advice about all safety topics and train colleagues to work in accordance with the safety policy. You feel comfortable in advising at all hierarchical levels within the organization, give feedback on non-safe behavior and know how to act upon unsafe situations.
This is a part-time position, if filled for 3 days/week it will focus solely on Safety and if for 4 days/week also on Health and Environment.
The salary level is max. € 80.000 gross per year (on full-time basis), no bonus, 27+13 vacation days, plus a pension scheme with PME, on the basis of ‘middelloonregeling’; 60% of premium is paid by the employer.
