The company is a leader in sustainability and number one in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. The Business Unit Industrial Chemicals (BUIC) produces and markets basic chemicals.
In this position you will be responsible for procurement on the Delfzijl site, with a relevant spend of appr. € 80 mio. The site employs some 250 persons.
You will report functionally into the site manager and hierarchically into the central procurement manager (who is not based on the site). You are part of a site procurement team of 3, consisting of you, a colleague senior buyer and a junior buyer. It is foreseen that you will grow into the role of contactperson between procurement and the site leadership team (consisting of the site manager, plus managers of maintenance, finance, HSE and HR).
For the categories Capex and MRO, you and your procurement colleagues will lead the sourcing initiatives. In case of Capex, for projects up to € 1 mio. (which covers just about all site-projects). Vendor management and contract management for MRO at operational level are executed by (the contract manager who is part of) the maintenance organization. At a more strategic level, this is your/procurement’s responsibility. You regularly review supplier performance and supply market developments. All further NPR spend is organized and managed by the central organization.
For max. 20% of your time you will participate in BUIC-wide initiatives and projects, for all plants in the Netherlands. Beside that you are expected to enhance professionalization within procurement on the site by creating more efficiency in the process flow, dispose of redundant activities, and thus creating more value for the business.
It is a matter of course that stakeholder management is of utmost importance in your role. It may also imply that you are capable of challenging internal requests from budget holders against criteria like safety, quality and costs.
Your performance is measured against targets for savings, stakeholder management, professionalization and sustainability.
You work on the basis of a plan, for which you do get buy-in from the leadership team and report on progress made. Therein you describe your sourcing strategies, on the basis of spend data and risk assessment. In doing so you constantly drive continuous improvement.
