Principal

Company is a production organization in the maritime industry, main location in the Rotterdam region plus  sales and services centers across the world. The company employs some 2.000 persons.

 

Procurement

The purchasing director leads

• 6 category managers, 5 for direct spend and 1 for indirect (NPR) spend. Some categories comprise a team of multiple people at operational and/or tactical level
• project procurement team leads who are organized per Business Unit. Each project procurement team lead works per project with a team that is created out of a pool of tactical and operational purchasers plus expediters.

 

The position

You report into both the procurement director and the Business Unit Defence. This BU was recently created and momentarily counts some 20 persons. It is intended to grow along with foreseen new projects, that are now in the pre-award phase. As Strategic purchaser you will be involved in all projects, both in the pre-award phase and in the build phase. At the moment income comes from maintenance on existing assets, but the BU is also tendering for several major design and build projects, firstly for the Dutch Defence forces.  Once these projects are won, you will need to create a procurement team to support these high security projects.

On top of supporting the business, you will need to implement procurement processes in the BU Defence, in line with the requirements of (the Dutch) Defence forces.

Your main procurement tasks are initially:

• Develop a sourcing strategy for the BU, incl. category plans, a supplier performance evaluation and improvement scheme, etc.
• Define the procurement strategy per project, dividing each project into packages that need to be procured
• Manage the supplier sourcing process, searching, selecting, qualifying, contracting new suppliers
• Assist in an audit program to ensure that suppliers achieve the necessary qualification status
• Manage contract execution technically and commercially and make sure that deliveries are in line with specifications, planning and budget

Occasional travel will be required in the position.

 

Your profile

• Bachelor degree in engineering or economics
• 5 or more years procurement experience in a technical sector, e.g. Aerospace, Naval, e.g. as product manager, tender engineer
• Preferably experienced in building a procurement organization (people, processes)
• Mature, analytic, growth potential
• Fluent in Dutch and English
• Dutch nationality, living in the Netherlands, a valid VOG will be required during the application process.

 

Offer

Gross salary up to appr. € 77.000   year, depending on experience and background, 40 vacation days, mobility budget, pension scheme with PME, employer pays 62% of premium.

Your office will be in the Rotterdam region.  Flexible working hours. Post-covid it is foreseen that you can work up to 2 days/week from home (in close consultation with your manager).
