Team Lead SCM

Principal
Our client, based in the Dordrecht region, develops and supplies standard and custom-built solutions for efficient operation of dredgers and related vessels. These are deployed in the marine dredging industry and for the mining of alluvial and deep-sea resources. The organization has a focus on innovation, from the design stages, thru construction to life-cycle support. The newbuild organization is backed by a worldwide support organization, in total employing some 3000 professionals in 36 locations worldwide. Due to growing demand, the company is looking for a Team Lead SCM / Tactical Buyer.

Tasks
As Team Lead SCM / Tactical Buyer you balance the requirements across the company wide supply chain, in close cooperation with your internal stakeholders and departments (such as engineering, production, planning and project management). You will work on projects with a value from €10 mln to over €50 mln, of which a substantial amount is subcontracted. You are responsible for the procurement of components for dredge pumps, hopper equipment (constructions), excavation equipment and dredge line components. You are also highly involved in defining the requirements and in selecting the best suppliers in cooperation with the category and project managers.
These suppliers are based all over the world, more and more also in the Far East. Your role is to manage the supplier relationships; from negotiating appropriate conditions and creating agreements to initiating and pushing for continuous improvement of their performance (price, quality, delivery time and -reliability). You will be leading (in consultation with the Procurement Manager) a small project team of operational and tactical buyers.

Your profile

• a bachelor’s degree in a technical commercial area (preferably supplemented by Nevi 1 and 2)
• more than 5 years of (international) experience in (project) procurement in the manufacturing or maritime industry
• familiar with international trading practices and maritime procurement procedures
• used to working in an engineering focused, project based organisation, delivering OSBIT (on specification, budget, in time)
• commercial aptitude and excellent negotiating skills
• pro-active, stress resilient and a real team player
• willingness to travel abroad
• excellent command of English and Dutch
