The company
Emerson is a world leading brand in valves and controls for the energy and process industry and water management. The company has the largest sales and distribution network in the world and leads development from the front, selling solutions rather than products alone. The centre of excellence for resilient seated butterfly valves (RSBFV) will be relocated to the Breda manufacturing plant and for this Emerson requires a Technical Product Manager who will take responsibility for the world-wide product group design, production and development.
The role
You are responsible for all technical aspects of the RSBFV product group, including management of product design, development of new products and manufacturing engineering support and you report to the Global Engineering Manager. You need to be able to take charge and to be able to balance the costs and opportunities in changing a design and to support manufacturing and sales with your expertise. For this you must be someone who can travel around 20 to 30 percent of your time nationally and internationally and be comfortable in a multicultural setting. Balancing opportunities and constraints and managing the interest of your stakeholders from sales to manufacturing will require scope of vision and an inclusive and confident management style. Strong focus will be on developing the engineering strength and application knowhow of the teams in China , Korea and India.
Your toolbox will contain:
- Minimum BSc mechanical engineering with experience in piping equipment or similar disciplines with a world-wide scope.
- CAD, FEA and PDM experience (Emerson uses Inventor and Vault)
- Understanding of manufacturing discrete series production
- Value engineering and lean manufacturing skills such as 6 Sigma
- Excellent communication skills and cultural adaptability
- Experience with multi-site responsibility, preferably in process equipment
- Language skills with at least excellent English
