The company is owned by a private investor “at a distance,” is located near Haarlem and has about 150 employees. There are small branches in Houten and in Frankfurt (D). Over the past 5 years, sales have grown from € 50 mio. to € 100 mio. Goal in 5 years is a turnover of € 150 mio. The company produces emergency power systems with the size of a shipping container and a value of about € 1 mio. each, always customized (engineer-to-order) and to a lesser extent large batteries for electricity storage (BESS, Battery Energy Storage System). It supplies these mainly to customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Greece and Kenya. A smaller market is e.g. France.
All systems the company supplies are installed and delivered on site by its own employees. Maintenance is also done in the Netherlands by its own employees, internationally by service partners.
Procurement
The Purchasing Manager reports to the Operations Director and is responsible for:
- Purchasing
- Warehouse
- Facility
- Quality
The procurement team manages a spend of approximately €65m and consists of:
- Strategic buyer projects
- Tactical buyer service
- 2x Operational Buyer (including this vacancy)
- Trainee – deals with certification of goods, export documents, the processes and is key-user MS Business Central (the ERP system).
Job
As a result of internationalization and growth of the organization’s activities, this vacancy has arisen. It is therefore a new position.
You will focus on purchasing for production and service. Because every project is customized, you have to deal with a multitude of items and suppliers. Based on the BOM (Bill of Material) and the technical drawings (A W) for a project you will place the orders. Where possible you will use existing suppliers (with whom there is already a contract), but you will also regularly have to search for suppliers.
In addition, you also do the ordering work for service organization. In the Netherlands maintenance is done by the own organization, abroad by ‘service partners’. The moment parts are needed for this maintenance, you go to work to find and order them. Every installation is customized and in the past it was often not properly tracked where the parts came from.
You will set up a database of suppliers where possible so that you can work faster in the future and get guaranteed quality, fast response time and a higher margin.
You will use MS Business Central and RASCI systems in your work.
Your profile
- Bachelor level
- Solid experience in a purchasing function (preferably in the manufacturing industry)
- Able to read technical drawings is a plus
- Experience with ERP systems
- ‘Can do’ mentality, go-getter, team player
- Communicative strong, in English and Dutch
Offer
- Salary up to approx. € 65.000 gross/year (full-time basis), depending on your experience and background
