60-year-old family business with branches in NL, UK and DK and about 50 employees. Since the company was acquired 3 years ago by a group of private investors and a UK firm, it has quadrupled in staffing and more than doubled in revenue. The ambition is to continue this growth.
The company has 3 product groups:
- Shore power
- Power solutions – electrical accessories for data centers m.n.
- EV Charging – car charging equipment.
In the Netherlands, the company is based in the Amersfoort area.
Organization
The organization is headed by the general manager. And it has the following (sub)divisions:

- Procurement (now 2 employees + mngr procurement a.i.)

The direct procurement spend in 2024 is approx. €10 mio. This mainly concerns EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) services, cables, plastic parts (injection molding) and electronic parts.
Function
Currently, an interim Purchasing manager is working to review the spend, investigate opportunities for better and cheaper production set-up, introduce standard purchasing processes and especially to greatly improve the data in the ERP system. Coming summer, his project will be completed.
In addition, the current first buyer has indicated he will leave at the end of March. The company is using this opportunity to strengthen its procurement organization and is therefore looking for an experienced Senior Purchaser.
In the position, you will report to the Director of Finance & Operations. The intention is that you are going to have a big impact on the results of the company. You will be involved in strategic and tactical procurement and supplier management. Your fellow buyer is more operational.
You will be involved by the management in formulating the procurement strategy, as an outgrowth of the corporate strategy. In time, the goal is for you to create your own purchasing strategy.
Current areas of focus in the procurement plan and your work will include:
- Reduce the cost of production (partly outsourced to an EMS) and improve arrangements with the EMS (based in NL). A concrete target awaits you.
- Simplify the supply chain for shore power and EV charging cables to reduce delivery times and costs
Further targets are focused on cash flow improvement, cost avoidance, capital requirement reduction, etc.
More generally, you take care of a strong supplier base, good contractual agreements with them, managing the suppliers and all this in fine coordination with the internal organization.
It is also important that you ensure that you are involved in R&D projects at an early stage so that you have maximum influence on supplier selection and agreements with the chosen parties.
The position involves some international travel.
Your profile
- HBO work/thinking level
- Experience with tactical/strategic procurement in a manufacturing environment, including initiating/leading procurement processes and/or projects
- Preferably experience with procurement of electr(on)isical components and services
- Commercial, proactive, communicatively strong, results driven
- English speaking (Dutch is a plus)
Offer
- This is a full-time position
- Salary up to €80,000 gross/year, depending on knowledge and experience
- 25 leave days + 1 extra day (for older employees)
