Client
Our client is a family-owned company that manufactures high-quality trailers and is headquartered in the Nijmegen region. This company, with a turnover of €100 million, has an extensive network of dealerships across Europe. Annually, the company sells around 2,000 chassis, of which 20% in the Benelux and 80% in the rest of Europe.
With an ambition to double these sales in the short term, the company constantly strives for growth and innovation. The production environment is largely set up for ‘configure to order,’ but in addition there are also around 100 ‘specials’ per year.
The company has a state-of-the-art production facility where proudly everything is manufactured in-house. From start to finish, the entire production process is managed internally, meaning practically nothing is outsourced. This approach ensures complete control over product quality and delivery times, and highlights the team’s craftsmanship and dedication. This internal production process enables the company to innovate quickly and respond flexibly to customer needs.
The company has 250 full-time employees, 70 of whom work in the office. The corporate culture reflects the values of a classic family business: a long-term vision, care for employees, and strong loyalty among staff. Innovation and R&D are central pillars, always keeping the company at the forefront of the market.
In this warm and stable working environment, people are well looked after, leading to a team that is fully committed to the company’s success.
Function
In this role, you will report to the Head of Purchasing and work closely with a diverse team consisting of two tactical buyers, two operational buyers and a data specialist. With a total spend of €50 million, your team manages the procurement of crucial categories such as steel, hydraulics, axles and technical components. The ERP system Glovia supports the procurement process.
One of the major challenges is to engage suppliers in modern procurement methods. Many suppliers have been involved for a long time and still work without formal contracts or framework agreements, which can create resistance to new forms of cooperation. Your job is to bring these suppliers into a new way of working.
You will also work on improving cooperation between sales, production and suppliers by making better use of forecasts. Other key stakeholders are the engineering and logistics departments.
This full-time position also requires you to travel internationally, mainly within Europe, for about 10% of your time.
Your contribution will be essential in modernising procurement and strengthening relationships with suppliers to improve efficiency and collaboration within the company.
