The organisation
Our client, Fullwood JOZ, develops and manufactures the best milking robots available. From their modern production facility in Middenmeer, around 250 colleagues work daily on smart and reliable solutions for dairy farming. Contact with the customer, the farmer, is close and visible: they make something that people can really rely on, and that is reflected in the culture. Professional and ambitious, but also down-to-earth, pragmatic and direct when necessary.
After years of strong growth, the company experienced a challenging period last year, with a major reorganisation and many changes. However, it has now found its way back up: this year’s production targets are almost being met and the order book is well filled. The ambition is solid: the aim is to double production within two to three years.
The role
Being an experienced strategic purchaser, you will have every opportunity to apply your knowledge and vision and prepare the supply chain for further growth. Together with a fellow strategic purchaser, you will be responsible for a direct spend of appr. €40 million and will focus on quality, delivery reliability and cost control. You report directly to the operations manager and work closely with two operational purchasers.
You will play a key role in further professionalising procurement and rebuilding trust with suppliers. In doing so, you will actively monitor the market: visiting (international) suppliers and trade fairs to identify opportunities and trends and seek out the right strategic partners. This involves negotiating complex framework contracts and making well-considered choices based on data and your technical insight, but also simply picking up the phone and agreeing on a practical solution when the situation requires it.
You ensure that the basics are in order by maintaining and improving master data and logistics data in the ERP system (SSA LN), and provide insight through reports and dashboards. You evaluate suppliers, initiate improvement processes and develop long-term strategies. You are a fully-fledged discussion partner for management and suppliers and contribute your expertise to the ambition to double production in the coming years.
You work closely with production and see the impact of your work on a daily basis.
