Procurement
You will report directly to the Head of Project Contracting and Procurement, depending on the project you may also need to report to an internal client such as a Proposal or Project Manager. The rest of the team consists of 3 buyers and 6 tender/contract engineers.
Function
As a Tender/Contracts Engineer, your responsibility is to ensure that subcontractors adhere to our clients’ standards and subcontracting procedures. Most of your work (80%) will be pre-award, while the rest will be post-award. The scope of the projects (dredging, pipelaying, deep sea mining or decommissioning) is largely determined by the end client, so you will guide the team through the tendering process. This position focuses on capital and operating expenses and contracts can range from 1 million to 15 million. Winning a project is not just about price, but above all about careful planning and technical details.
You must have a thorough knowledge of legal contracts, pay attention to detail and know when to stop researching and complete the contract. In addition, you must have commercial acumen to recognize opportunities.
Your key stakeholders are Project Managers, Technical Superintendents, Engineering, Construction managers and, of course, your suppliers, vendors and customers.
